Our focus on building new homes began with a flash of entrepreneurship. It started when we purchased a 3.5 acre lot with a condemned house. We demolished the house, worked through local permitting and built a home speculatively that ultimately sold before it was finished. Our team has decades of combined experience in construction, real estate development, and logistics – and from that first project, we knew we could bring a new kind of value to new home construction. Zach Knutson
Managing Partner
Zach oversees Next Gen’s operations, financing, and investor relations related to our various development and construction projects. He also manages a 193 acre, mixed use project in Euless, TX with a total construction budget of over $150 million. He has over 15 years experience with operating, developing, leasing, and constructing large portfolios of shopping centers, land, and redevelopments in excess of $1 billion in asset value. He leads his team from project feasibility, site planning, municipality negotiations, financing, construction, and finally asset disposition. He’s also specialized in structuring joint ventures, mergers, and debt placements in excess of $400 million
Nathan Apfelbeck
Principal
Nathan manages all general contracting activities including project planning, pre-construction cost estimating, subcontractor bidding, contracting, awarding, and timely project turnover to tenants. He has extensive experience in general contracting for residential housing and infrastructure as well as “bricks & mortar” construction for Walmart, Roundy’s, Menard’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, TJX Companies, and Kohl’s. He has overseen in excess of 50 projects totaling over $500 million in project value.
